:  A subdural hematoma is collection of blood in the skull found after head trauma or ruptured aneurysm, is seen on a CT of the skull, it is usually drained if symptomatic (headache,alterations in consciousness) to prevent increased cerebral pressure.

i have a hematoma (can feel a lump in the middle of a giant bruise) that appeared for no reason on the back of my lower left thigh. without injury or medication, what could cause this?

: Most likely an injury.  Try to recall any falls or auto or bike accidents and if you drank to excess before they appeared ask compaions if anything happened that you might not remember.

Mgt: Bruising can occur while you are taking Xarelto, but if the bruise does not heal or enlarges, I would advise letting your doctor know.

i have a bruise on my leg that just showed up without injury. is that normal? i'm on a medication that can cause blood clots. should i be concerned?

Bruise: spontaneous bruising is very common and is not usually related to blood clots. It should disappear but if you get more you should let your doctor have a look at them

i just noticed that i have a bursted blood vessel on the inside of my elboy but i didn't bruise it. i looked it up and i didn't get blood taken recently, i'm not on medication and i don't have allergies. do u might know what this is?

Accidental?: At your age, a small bruise may simply be accidental. However, if you begin to notice more unexplained bruises, you will need to see your dr to get a "blood coagulation profile" which may explain the bruises ( low platelet count, reduced or absent clotting factors, blood vessel wall issues etc). The so called "allergic purpura" refers to bruising due to allegic injury to small skin capillaries .

my son woke up with a bruise on his hip, cyist like sores on his body and trouble urinating he is a heavy drug user?

See dr asap: I would need more information, including which drugs he uses and how he takes them (ie, injects), to help narrow down possible diagnoses.  My biggest concern is that sores can be do to skin infections from injecting, and trouble urinating from kidney failure or an STD,  Take him for medical evaluation asap.  Take Care!

Maybe.: Was this done by an abps-certified plastic surgeon? If not, seek one or more out and get additional opinions about what must be done rather urgently. You need re-operation to deal with the problem of what sounds like a surgical misadventure the first time around. If you are seeing a reputable abps plastic surgeon, you should already be planning evacuation in the or. Do not delay.

Takes time: Hematomas can take quite a while to resolve, often weeks and even months.  Try ice initially, and subsequently you can alternate ice/heat.  A sacral donut can provide symptommatic relief, and nsaids (ibuprofen, aleve) can help as well.

i have had this large hematoma on my back for a month from a fall.  how do you know when a hematoma needs to be drained?

Hematoma: Although a hematoma does usually not get drained given the swelling is persisting after a month I think it would be best to see a surgeon.  Sometimes you can have a persistent "bleeder" that needs addressed.
