Anaphylaxis: A true allergic reaction is that where even the smallest dose of an "allergen" causes a full blown organ system shut down, Rash, wheezing to Shortness of breath, dysrhythmias to Ventricular fibrillation, total renal shut down. Supportive measures, epinephrine and anti-allergen (reversal) needs to be given.
This can happen with any substance introduced into the body not recognized as "self".

the anaesthesiologist says im severely allergic to morphine. my dentist says im moderately allergic to prilocaine, benzocaine  and forte ( with epinephrine).
will having these allergies present a problem in taking astrazeneca vaccine?

: None of these ingredients are in or related to the Covid vaccine. However, anyone who has had an allergic reaction to a medication is generally observed for a longer period of time after the vaccine to be sure.

i have allergy to benzocaine. this week i had a rxn to a dental anesthetic, swelling of cheek & throat. how long should i take benadryl?  need tests?

Allergy: Should not have any of the caine medications. next time could have anaphylaxis. Most safe way to test is with an allergist. Consider getting Epipen. Benadryl may help in the first 48 hours.

painful blisters in mouth & vagina due to bactrim (sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim) allergy. ok to put benzocaine cream on outer vag, offers a little relief. what else can i use? help!

Symptomatic relief: is best after discussion with your PCP or doctor. Make sure this is documented in your chart as ALLERGY TO BACTRIM/SULFAS. The symptomatic relief is perhaps the best, like ice chips, no hot, spicy, foods. Keep it bland, hydrating, easy to digest as your entire throat may also be affected down to your gut. Tepid, soothing, nonstinging baths like Aveeno (oatmeal) may be helpful. No chemical shampoos or soaps.

Allergy: Once you know you are allergic to any medication, food, or substance, the most important thing you can do is stay away from what you are allergic to.  If you have a reaction to an over the counter medication, get  an antihistamine to reduce the itching and the rash.

Don't worry: It would be very illegal and unethical to test you for street drugs without your consent, unless you were seriously sick and we had reason to think that knowing what drugs were in you would save your life.

Not usually: The cause for multiple drug allergies to unrelated drugs remains to be established but there is no relationship to food allergies.

Allergy 2 penicillin: The allergy extends to any member of the penicillin class.  Caution about using substances of unknown provenance is appropriate if your allergy is significant.  One needs to be assured there are no penicillin related contaminants in the substances used.  Weed is known to harbor many types of mold, a penicillium species might present in some plants.

That is clumps of antibodies with the drug which clog small capilaries in kidneys, joints, skin 
type 4 is cell-contact dernatiti.

Rash and anaphylaxis: The most common allergic reaction to a drug is a rash.  In severe cases this is accompanied by breathing trouble and could even be life-threatening anaphylaxis.  Stomach upset is a common side effect and is not likely to be a true allergy.  However, it is still important to let your doctor know this.
