just a question. can i take ativan 1mg after drinking alcohol about 38 hours ago. i consumed alot of alcohol on monday with my last glass at 10pm. today is wednesday 10:15 am. will it be safe to take the ativan today if i feel my anxiety kicking in?

Yes, however...: Yes. You're correct to be concerned about taking alcohol and Ativan together but alcohol leaves your body within a few hours.
Ativan helps anxiety but consider other approaches including a good B-complex. Magnesium 200 mg 2x/day, exercise, meditation, L-Theanine and herbs like Ashwgandha (1000 mg/day), Holy Basil (can be taken as Tulsi tea) and Passionflower. Can combine with Ativan as needed.

Ativan and alcohol: Depends how much you drink and the condition of your liver. Ativan acts by itself (lorazepam half life is 12 hrs), and by a metabolite formed in the liver (lorazepam glucoride-half life is 18 hrs), so, to be safe you have to start drinking very moderately after18 hrs at least from your last dose, and it would be safe (after moderate drinking) to take the ativan 18-24hrs after the last drink.

Ativan: I would recommend waiting 12 hours before mixing alcohol with ativan.. There is still some risk with driving even after 12 hours. Bottom line: don't drink alcohol when taking ativan and then drive.

Oh my gosh.: This is worrisome - please don't mix alcohol and benzodiazapines like Ativan (lorazepam).

Ativan (lorazepam): Ativan's usual duration of action is around 6 hours.  Although the drug may still remain since it has a half life of 10-20 hrs.  That means the longer you take this medication, the longer it remains in your system.  Make sure to limit consumption to as little as possible once in a while because these both are depressants.

Would not drink: I would not drink alcohol with ativan, (lorazepam) at all.

Most likely: since the half-life is about 12 hrs and at least three half-lives have past by then you should be OK as long as you have normal liver and kidney function.

: Half life of regular Ativan is 12 hours and the level will be minimal after taking 0.5 mg 24 hours earlier so there will be insignificant interaction between alcohol and 0.5 mg dose.

None: You are on a rather large dose of ativan (lorazepam). Because of this dose, i would not recommend you drinking any alcohol. It is not safe to mix them. Also, if you are on this large of a dose, likely you will always have some Ativan (lorazepam) in your system.
