i have stage iv osteoarthritis in my knee.  the ed did a fluid aspiration and removed synovial fluid and a blood clot? why a clot?

Injury or due to ned: With osteoarthritis you may have where in tear inside the knee and this may cause bleeding. However the bleeding and clot could be related to the fact you had a needle placed in your knee and it may have caused a cube waiting. Sometimes people bleed in their knee on a chronic basis but usually when this fluid is removed there is no clot. bloody knee fluid is called a hemarthrosis

Minimal: These are usually fluid filled or gelatinous filled cysts and recuperation from aspiration should be less than 5 days.

: Risks of an ultrasound guided aspiration of the knee are pretty minimal. Of course there is a risk for infection because any time you put something in the body, infection is a risk but if precautions are taken during the procedure this is rare. The reason why there is a recurrence rate of 50% is because the cause of the ganglion cyst is not being addressed. Likely, the recurrence is really higher.

Tough: Problem. I would ask your surgeon about joint fistula or recurrent preparellar bursitis. Usually another surgery.

Not much: Local anesthesia, and removal of fluid may make you more comfortable.

i have edema all throughout my leg/knee, even in my bone marrow. mri says large effusion, severe synovitis, mild tendinopathy. i've had 2 aspirations already without improvement. what is wrong, how can this be fixed?

: You should see a rheumatologist to have the effusion drained and sent for testing. They will also do some blood testing and likely be able to diagnose this issue. So, see a rheumatologist. Best of luck to you!!
