Wandering artery: In the normal anatomy of the arterial system, arteries take the most direct or straight path to their destination. Tortuosity or ectasia occurs as we age but sometimes is seen in younger people as a variation from normal. It rarely causes any problems but mat result in seeing an unusual pulsation due to the bend in the artery pressing against the skin and be confused as being an aneurysm.

No.  It is inherited: Hereditary conditions are by definition genetically inherited.  However recent research into stem cell  treatment of  inherited conditions of the eye are beginnjng to be treated and studied

Retinal tortuosity can also be caused by carbon monoxide exposure.  You would benefit from habing your car muffler checked by your mechanic for leaks and see your ophthalmologist.

i had an angiogram of head and neck. it was discovered when going in i had severe tortuosity of innominate artery but they were still able to do it. what causes severe tortuosity of innominate artery? is it dangerous?

:   Causes of a tortuous innominate artery are unclear, but high blood pressure,arteriosclerosis &amp; obesity have been mentioned. Biopsies&amp; surgery near one are challenging and could be dangerous unless great care is taken.

: Talk to Dr who has seen you and the angiogram for best advice.  If smoking stop, get BMI to 25 and move to DASH
 diet. Tortuosity suggests long standing untreated high blood pressure

A radiologic descrip: I'll presume you're reading off a radiologic report that involves imaging the arteries within the brain. Description that an artery is 'tortuous' means its curvier than usual, and not abnormal; basilar artery sends blood to brain stem, located in basal part of  skull in back of your head; whether any clinical significance to 'impresses on the brain stem' needs to be interpreted by neurologist.

hello doctor, i went through my brain angiography report. it said in report multiple attempts were made to catheterize innominate artery because of severe tortuosity of the innominate artery. but dr was able to do. is this something serious?

: With your age and gender this finding is not rare especially if you have history of chronic hypertension. You should not worry much if the rest of study was normal. Take care.

Anatomical variant : These findings are anatomical variants and can not be really treated.  The tortuous internal carotid artery is not the reason for the pulsatilla timnitis. If the circle of Willis is clean - no intervention is necessary.  If you are bothered by the tinnitus you could get a hearing test and find out where you hearing,  you can then get tinnitis masker from your local ent
