Could be a: simple trapezius muscle spasm from over stretching or a problem with the disks or joints in the neck. You're 28, the trapezius spasm/strain is more likely. Try cold packs to sore areas and after looking at an image of it online look for ways to avoid chronic strain during hunching while sitting near computer/reading/sleeping. If the pain doesn't go away in a few days, see your doctor.

Need evaluation. : Not only would we need more information about what’s going on with your shoulder, but I think it would be wise if you got a formal physical examination locally with an orthopedist. Is this new, or has it been this way for a while?  Was there any trauma involved? Depending on answers to these questions, you might at least need an x-ray if not an MRI.

Muscle/tendon injury: Without a history of a specific injury, your pain could be coming from the fact that you strained the muscles (deltoid or rotator cuff) around the shoulder or sprained the ligaments and joint that join the end of your collar bone (clavicle) to the shoulder blade (acromion portion of the scapula). You should seek a thorough orthopaedic surgeon evaluation if the pain persists past a week.

: This can be evaluated best with an examination.  Maybe, rotator cuff injury, adhesive capsulitis of shoulder, thoracic outlet syndrome, to advance a few thoughts.  Start with an orthopedic surgeon, as it appears most likely the pain generator is in the shoulder girdle.

i am experiencing  shoulder pain. i got tdap shot 8 days ago. pain is some better but still very bad. unable to lift arm over head. can't lay on left side. is this normal? how long is this going to last?

Evaluation: If the pain dose not resoled you need further evaluation with blood test and CT of shoulder to find the cause so be treated.
