my daughter has a swollen part in her tongue, when she pokes her tongue out there is a part at the bottom that comes out the side, is it her gland?

Accepted Answer

Maybe: It could be a mucocoele- a mucous cyst under the tongue ..Not usually a "problem" but can cause annoyance. Have your dentist look at her. Or and ENT doc.

there is an indent inside my right cheek, itd underneath my gland and i can feel it with my tongue. i bit the area badly before, no pain not an open w?

Have it checked : Have it Checked on your next appointment with your ddentist. There is an orifice on both cheeks where the saliva flows out. The surrounding tissue may feel indented.  It may represent scar tissue if you iinjured it before. There are other possibilities so it is best to have it evaluated.

can a blocked saliva gland affect tongue movement?

Accepted Answer

No: A blockage - usually a stone from a condition called sialadenitis - can cause local irritation and even mild local swelling. But your tongue movement would not be affected. You can suck on lemon drops and see if that removes the stone. A firm or hard swelling that affects tongue movement needs to be checked right away for possible tumor mass. Hope that helps.

small, nearly invisible bump near sublingual gland below tongue, half inch to the right of center for a couple of weeks. it is not growing. was painful at first but now it is not. ?

Blockage: Most likely, what you describe sounds like a blockage of one of the submandibular glands that produce saliva and bring it to below the tongue.  You should seek an evaluation from an oral and maxillofacial surgeon.  In the interim, start warm salt water with a little lemon in it rinses for 5-10 minutes 3 times a day.  If the pain increase, stop and see the doctor.

Salivary glands: If the lumps are just behind the lower 2 front teeth, these are probably your salivary glands which belong there.  Sometimes they can swell due to blockage or salivary stones.

Usually does: usually it does.try to hydrate yourself with a lot of water.when you eat chew very well.anr eat slowly,as I said usually it goes away.if not ask your doctor.
