wife has got bad skin allergy since yesterday. large red spots (as huge mosquito bites). avil inj helped last night. why so? possible causes?

Hives: Cause food allergy- seafood, chocolate, peanuts, strawberries. Other causes medications either prescription or o/c. Could also be reqction to infection. Suppress with antihistamines and look for cause. If extensive and persistent see dermatologist or allergist for workup.

Angioedema!: Some people with stress release histamine in the skin.  When scratching occurs, red welts occur.  Try combining an over the counter drug like Claritin and zantac (ranitidine) (2x 75mg). I bet you get relief!

Baby rashes frequent: Babies get lots of rashes and often we don't find out why. If the rash occurs every time the baby eats a certain food, it could be a food allergy. If not, it could be heat rash, a viral infection, sensitivity to detergent, etc-the list is long. Most rashes that babies get go away the next few days and aren't worth worrying about. If baby gets a fever or the rash gets worse, then see your doctor.

Not all hives..: .. are allergies.  A common cause of acute hives is a subclinical (otherwise asymptomatic) viral infection.  Another possible explanation for sudden hive onset in 2 individuals is irritant exposure (eg new laundry detergent).  A third is an insect exposure such as fleas or bed bugs.  Hives for over a month should be discussed with an Allergist to help identify triggers and an effective treatment
