Depends: Piercings are very popular as a form of self expression. If you choose to get one for your child make sure the person doing the procedure is using sterile technique. Also review your state laws to make sure you won't be in violation of child negligence laws by allowing this procedure on your child. Best just to stick to the ears at this age.

Infection risk: Hi. Body piercing carries an infection risk, albeit generally low (assuming proper technique). If your diabetes is tightly controlled, your infection risk should be low. However, if your control is poor, 2 things: 1) infection risk is higher, and 2) risk of long term diabetic complications is higher.

Not always: Nipple Piercings have led to cellulitis &amp; abscesses. The jewelry can snag against clothing with potential of traumatic tears to the nipple. Additionally, scar tissue on the nipple or jewelry can block a milk duck &amp; in some cases make it more difficult to latch during breastfeeding.
