Talk with doctor: May be medication related?  Otherwise, fatigue is not uncommon in ms.  Talk to your doctor to see if anything can be done to help.

The : The reason why your ms symptoms "act up" in heat has to do with how neurons work. Neurons conduct electrical impulses. If you compare a neuron to a wire, then myelin coating of a neuron is like insulation. A wire stripped of insulation tends to lose electricity along the way - just like a neuron stripped of myelin, as in ms. These losses get worse with increased temperature, but are reversible once you cool off. As best we know, this phenomenon, called uthoff's phenomenon, is not damaging - i.e. You're not having a relapse - although it can be very unpleasant. To minimize it, i advise my patients to hydrate, seek shade and avoid overheating. Other measures include wearing cooling vests and neck coolers, made by several manufacturers. Multiple sclerosis association of america (msaa) can help with paying for these.

should i go to the er my ms symptoms seem to be getting worse i have been on steroid burst for 5 days and i lost control of my bladder, and i am having more spasams and more pain then ever thisis my 5 bout of ms in a year i am 23 years old and very scared

Exacerbations : Exacerbations of ms do sometimes require hospitalization when outpatient care is not working.  Going to the er may be a good idea, though you might first try contacting your neurologist's office.  It's possible that he/she or another physician is available by telephone to give you some advice.

tingling in pinky finger and ring finger waking up with numb fingers in the night , pain up my arm & tingling comes and goes in my right leg is this ms? does ms symptoms come intermittently?

: It is not feasible to provide exact diagnosis herein, but your arm numbness may well be a pinched nerve at elbow.  Should check neck for potential cervical stenosis.  Your complaints would not likely point to MS, but if concerned, could see a local neurologist.

Old MS pathways: Electric signal transmission across nerve fibers (axons) requires good insulation (myelin). While MS inflammation is followed by myelin repair, the extent of repair may vary and is never perfect. When core body temperature goes up, some of these old MS lesioned pathways are prone to "drop the signal". This is the "uhthoff phenomenon". No permanent damage is done.

It can be: Like in a case of MS causing an internuclear opthalmoplegia - don't worry this is a fancy term for a particular problem that affects how the eyes move together.  But it isn't the most common presentation of MS.

MS: Benzodiazapines (such as xanax) have been used in patient's with multiple sclerosis. However, this can be a slippery slope because one can develop tolerance to this class of medications.

Accepted Answer

Initially maybe: The MS "hug" is indicative of spinal cord involvement, and may be a presenting feature, but could occur later in form of relapse.  If you have such problems, it could be due to a different cause and this needs sorting out.  If you indeed have MS, you should be placed on potent medication. NOT NECESSARILY: Your symptoms are nonspecific and could be associated with many different causes, including peripheral nerve, neck or back spondylosis, medication reactions, and even complex migraine events.  Although ms can indeed present with similar issues, this is too generic to pin down with these symptoms alone.  Might discuss with your primary doc and decide if a further evaluation may be beneficial.
