MS: Benzodiazapines (such as xanax) have been used in patient's with multiple sclerosis. However, this can be a slippery slope because one can develop tolerance to this class of medications.

Emotional rxtns: Xanax (alprazolam) is of value for panic reactions, anxiety states, emotional stressors, and if MS causes these reactions, quite appropriate to use medication, but the drug does not affect the usual complications of MS such as fatigue, pain, cognitive deterioration.
