At birth in most if not all states a tiny blood sample is taken and analyzed for a number of inborn errors of metabolism including the gene which controls the transport of the chloride ion across your cell membranes which is the underlying defect in CF. Problems almost always show up very early and are usually checked with an iontopheresis test.

It's an STD!: You probably have nongonoccal urethritis (NGU). It is an STD, even if standard STD tests are negative. Usually such tests include only gonorrhea and chlamydia, but these miss over half of all urethritis. Probably you still need treatment for NGU (doxycycline or azithromycin).  It's not coffee or any food. Find a doctor who understands STDs and genital infections and follow his or her advice.
