Ethinyl estradiol : And desogestrel is a combination drug that contains female hormones that prevent ovulation (the release of an egg from an ovary). This medication also causes changes in your cervical mucus and uterine lining, making it harder for sperm to reach the uterus and harder for a fertilized egg to attach to the uterus.
 
Also use as contraceptive.

can i use an infrared sauna or hot tub while on the medication eliquis for a blood clot? my clot was formed due to a 20 hour flight while on apri?

Accepted Answer

: The risk of developing a clot rises with the number of risk factors.  So a long plane ride, dehydration, smoking, birth control pills, antiphospholipid antibodies, surgery, immobilization can all stack up to a likely risk of a clot.  Infrared sauna or hot tub could contribute to dehydration but are otherwise not inherently dangerous.  I would suggest you ask your hematologist.

can i drink alcohol during the holidays while on the medication eliquis for my blood clot? i solely got the clot due to a 20 hour flight/being on apri at the time and have since stopped taking that form of birth control?

: Unfortunately, the manufacturer of Eliquis (Apixiban) lists alcohol use as a risk factor for increased bleeding/hemorrhaging while on anticoagulation. I imagine this to include heavier menstrual cycles. If Apri is the provoking factor for the blood clot, any and all forms of estrogen should be avoided. Continued contraception with progesterone-only containing methods are advised.

can i take an acne supplement with extract of cruciferous vegetables; kale, broccoli, alfalfa, and spinach if i am on seizure medication lamictal? and birth control apri? want to make sure it doesnt decrease effectiveness of lamictal?

Irregular periods : Irregular periods are one of the most common problems obgyns treat. If this is one time problem it usually resolves on its own. If this is a recurring problem you should be evaluated. Infections &  hormonal changes can cause spotting. If there is a concern for pregnancy then do  a home pregnancy test .  There are many options available to help regulate the menstrual cycle. Schedule a visit.

Apri - effective: Apri is brand name for Desogen (ethinyl estradiol and desogestrel) oral contraceptive &amp; contains desogestrel/ethinyl estradiol. It is effective.

i used to be on yasmine when it was allowed and i did not have any weight changes while being on it.now i'm beginning apri. will i gain or lose weight?

Can not predict: All oral contraceptives will have weight gain as a listed side effect.  But not every one gains weight.  There is no way to predict what will happen when you take the new med.  You can feel hopeful that since you did not gain weight the first time- then you may have a similar response. I encourage you to eat healthy and exercise and  you will be less likely to have negative weight changes.

Maybe: In general birth control pills do not cause either weight loss or weight gain.  However, a small number of women may experience weight changes when they start the pill.  If it continues after you have been on the pill for a month or two you may want to change to a different pill.

my 1st abortion was 3rd apri 2013.my 1st period was 21st april 2013 & only 2 days. so, when can i get my next period?

21-35 days : Periods come every 21-35 days for most people. You would expect one 21-35 days after april 21. Hopefully you will consider starting birth control to prevent the need for another termination.
