does apple cider vinegar irritate your throat?

Doubtful: It is actually part of an old folk remedy for sore throat. It reportedly did away with strep throat (but i would not accept that at face value.) however, it can really damage your teeth. So insure that you rinse well with water.  Are you having burning or pain from apple cider vinegar? If so, aloe vera juice ingested a couple times per day can help.

OTC: Try over the counter sore throat lozenges such as chloraseptic or cepacol. Why are you drinking apple cider vinegar anyway? If OTC lozenges do not help get examined by a doctor. Hope you feel better soon.

Yes.: Vinegar is an acid, so it&#x27;s normal if it causes a burning sensation when consumed.  Avoid excessive consumption of acidic foods; they can trigger or worsen heartburn and other acid reflux symptoms such as throat irritation.

Possibly: Apple cider vinegar is acidic, so it is entirely possible it could irritate your throat when you swallow it, especially if you swallow it without diluting it with anything else. If your throat is irritated for some reason, then the vinegar will burn more. It is not generally harmful to swallow it in pure form. Many people do this as a part of a dietary regimen to reduce appetite before meals.

i quit taking protonix (pantoprazole) two weeks ago the burning in my throat is back, dr. suggested apple cider vinegar to help but i makes it worse. any suggestions?

Slow transition: Sometimes it's better to taper off the Protonix (pantoprazole) gradually to prevent a rebound reflux problem. Another option is to take otc antacids  like zantac or Pepcid symptomatically for a while.  If all else fails, then you may need  to stay on protonix (pantoprazole).

Gargle: When gargling try not to exhale when you empty your mouth as this causes the throat muscles to close which sends water up the back of your throat and up your nose. Possible: Vinegar is very acidic and if she has an underlying problem with reflux or gastritis it can make it much worse. She needs to stop it and all acids and contact her doctor asap for evaluation and treatment.

Throat hurts: Vinegar is a mild acid, so throat irritation can occur after drinking it. If it does not get better in 2 days see a doctor. It is unlikely to cause much damage
