Yes: This is one of the theories, that persistent reflux causes damage to sensitive predispose area & cause scar & tissue destruction called fibrosispulmonary fibrosis.

Pulmonary fibrosis: Pulmonary fibrosis can be of unknown cause or occur from inflammatory processes that have occurred in the lungs. I don't think that chronic gerd is a cause of true pulmonary fibrosis in the absence of recurrent bronchopneumonia. I think you should be under the care of a gastroenterologist in view of gerd to prevent esophageal damage,chronic cough for example.

Yes: Aspiration of gastric contents can indeed cause pulmonary damage.  I've mentioned elsewhere that the priniciple cause of GERD is H. pylori.  H. pylori is the culprit that causes gastric ulcers and cancer.  You can eradicate H. pylori and heal GERD and gastric (and esophageal) ulcers with Mastic gum, 1,000 mg per day for two weeks.   You may need to continue with Mastic to prevent reinfection.

Pulmonary Testing: Pulmonary function testing with DLCO and a six minute walk test is suggested. The radiographic changes may or may not progress and need to be followed in relationship to symptoms such as shortness of breath.

after having rt sided chest pain, a cxr was normal but ct scan showed rul apical infiltrate or fibrosis.do u have any guess as to what this means?

Depends: Doctors usually do not interpret ct's by themselves.  We use all of the clinical information available to us to decide what a finding like the one you describe might mean.  Depending on the clinical situation, a 5 CM opacity may be something quite benign to other more serious problems.  A conversation with your doctor may help to enlighten you on what this is, and how best to pursue it.

if i have a faint apical lung fibrosis in xray , and i already consult my pulmonologist that my xray dont have fibrosis who should i trust?

X ray insignificant: Trust the pulmonologist. The faint findings are not clinically significant. If you need reassurance you can ask about a CT scan.

Ignore it: You have been evaluated for pulmonary tuberculosis as was suggested by the apical fibrosis. The tests are negative and you may ignore this minor abnormality.

: It can but the incidence is low.
