for the past 4 days ive had headaches, dull chest pain, no fever/temp, no persistent coughing. ive had a health related panic attack b4. cant tell if its anxiety or pneumonia (i have throat drainage)? havent been around ppl w/ covid-19.

Anxiety likely: It is unlikely you have pneumonia with out and elevated temp. But anxiety is very common. Self isolate, get plenty of rest and fluids, wash your hands regularly . try not to worry as stress reduces immunity.  IF you develop a fever or trouble breathing call your doctor

ever since i had pneumonia 3 weeks ago, my anxiety has been through the roof. can being very sick affect your mental state? any tips on how to cope?

Accepted Answer

Yes.: Certainly the stress of being sick can increase anxiety.  In addition, several medical conditions can cause an increase in anxiety.  In particular, pneumonia often causes shortness of breath (even after a few weeks of having it) and the shortness of breath could actually trigger anxiety symptoms.  It is helpful to know if there is an underlying cause for increased stress, other than pneumonia.

started with covid symptoms on christmas, tested positive 2 days later. i havent had a fever in 5 days. im still worried that it will come back and be pneumonia or blood clots day 10. i feel fine but have severe anxiety. please help?

Accepted Answer

: You are done with this episode of Covid. In 6-8 weeks, get Covid vaccination or booster.  While you are at it get a Flu shot also.

my neutrophils was 76.1 percent. i did have a mild of bacteria of pneumonia on my right lower lobe lung on 9/12. i havent checked to see if test went down. can it cause lymphocytes to be 0.97 and 16.9. trying not to have anxiety?

: All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Talk to the doctor who ordered the tests. Having said that, the results you provided are not diagnostic of any disorder.

had a cold from daughter, lasted 10 days, bad cough & congestion. now cough is over but lungs seem sore/ burning randomly. seems goes away if i take my anxiety med.no fever & sp02 is normal. could this be pneumonia without any other symptom?

: It is possible, but not that likely. More commonly the chest wall musculoskeletal structures are inflamed. NSAIDS and local heat are often effective. Watch for signs of shortness of breath and fever. Was your daughter vaccinated against COVID-19? or screened?

i suffer with bad anxiety. i choked on some water yesterday by swallowing down the wrong pipe. im not sure that i coughed all of it up. will i get aspiration pneumonia this way?

Accepted Answer

: Not likely. Risk factors for aspiration pneumonia are old age, drinking large amounts of alcohol, poor gag reflex, and being less alert from medications or illness.  If you are otherwise healthy, you will not develop pneumonia by choking on water.

How? By an exam!: You need a doctor to examine you. Then, if you need a Rx, you need to follow directions exactly and gert well. Doing the right stuff is a good way to lower anxiety and risk of damage to your young body. Best!

can pneumonia cause a large mass?

Depends on wording..: Interpretations of chest imaging studies like ct scans often include words like "mass".  This may simply mean there is a large abnormality.  This could very well be pneumonia, especially if patient is sick.  In this case, you will need repeat chest studies in a few weeks to make sure this "mass" is gone.  If it's still there then the patient may need further testing.

No insect/animal rqd: We talk of vectors as a living transporter, like a flea(plague) or dog(rabies) that passes a germ thru a bite. Viral pneumonia is generally passed in droplets of the oral/nasal secretions or coughed up mucous from an infected patient. You could consider your fingers as a vector, passing germs from a door handle to your face.

how often do i need a pneumonia shot?

Depends: This vaccine is generally recommended to certain persons with a medical condition that effects their immunity or those over 65. A booster after 5 years is generally given for the first group, as well as those over 65 who had a dose before they turned 65. Others may be indicated but that should be tailored to the individual case/condition.
