See below: A mixture of isopropyl alcohol and white vinegar (50/50) dropped with a dropper into the area can help.  However, it will likely be painful during the process, but the alcohol can kill bacteria and the vinegar will lower the ph in the area making it harder for the bacteria to grow.

i am an active 31 years old male. i got done a slight menisectomy via arthroscopy. the doctors used prednisolone in the wound and gave cipro for profilaxis. i don't like fq's side effects. any good antibiotics alternatives for my surgery profilaxis?

Clinda or Ancef (cefazolin): It sounds like you had surgery already...

If not, i typically use ancef (cefazolin) during the surgery.  You typically do not need anything to go home with.  

If you are allergic to penicillin, then I use clindamycin.

See dermatologist: There are top meds which might work, depending on the type of acne you have. For women with certain types of hormonal acne, another type of oral med, not an antibiotic , might help. See dermatologist for further eval. Minocycline can cause headaches as well as photosensitivity.

Your doctor should be able to find a suitable alternative that are not in these classes of drugs. Allergists specialize in drug reactions and can get to the bottom of what drugs your mother can tolerate and what drugs your mother should avoid.

If a quick  test confirmed each episode as strep, sequential treatment that includes a penicillin followed in the last few days with Rifampin can eliminate strep in a carrier. Without more specific data, no specific recommendation can be made.

See below: In US, ceftriaxone, cefotaxime or azithromycin will be a good alternative.  For a fully susceptible strain, amoxicillin or trimethoprim/sulfamethoxazole will be a choice. Fluoroquinolones  are indicated in children affected by multiple drug resistant tyPhoid fever.

Time will help.: First, increase hydration. Drink at least 8 glasses of plain water a day. Avoid drying agents, ie antihistamines (claritin, allegra, alcohol, caffeine etc) use a saline rinse kit twice a day. Decongest the nose for 3 days only (choice of afrin, (oxymetazoline) vics, etc) most will be better in 7 days. If symptoms worsen, see a physician.

Yes: There are other ways that antibiotics can be used to treat periodontal disease. They can be placed in the form of "microspheres" (arestin) or a gel (atridox). Of course, the periodontal problems also have to be addressed by the dentist to fully debride the areas either with or without surgical procedures depending upon the severity of the disease.
