i am a 49 yr old female who hasnt been to doctor in over 18 months. what type dr should i see now & what tests/exams.... i have had no previous medical problems. had annual well woman visits but feel i need to start taking better care of myself.

That Depends...: On your age, family history, underlying medical conditions, etc....And most importantly, your insurance benefits!  Generally, some insurance pay for routine health screening labs under a Physical exam (Z00.00) or Lipid screening codes (Z13.220) that includes a CMP and Lipid panel-which tests also for Electrolytes, kidney, liver, and Glucose (Diabetes screen if fasting). CHECK with your Insurance!

Annual exam: If you are having an annual gynecological exam then the doctor must examine everything - breasts, external genitalia, internal genitalia, cervix, bi-manual uterus palpation to include fallopian tubes and ovaries.

Vulvar Biopsy?????: Good evening Jessica, it’s difficult to diagnose cancer by visualization from a physical exam.  Diagnosis is made by a tested tissue sample (a biopsy).  In your case, maybe your provider saw a suspicious lesion during your exam.  Before you consent for the biopsy, you should have a detailed conversation with your provider about the findings on your exam.

i had my annual well womans visit with a np because the obgyn was booked. she checked my breasts and said she felt a cyst. should i have had it further evaluated? side note, she also told me a lipoma on my mons pubis was an abscess forming.

You will make best use of doctor's time if you study and/or complete documents ahead of time and save pertinent questions for the actual discussion. There is no specific time limit as billing can be done on time, doc will be limited by his or her schedule.
