Ankle chips: I would give it several months to see if the problem resolves.  Just because there are chips in there doesn't mean it will be symptomatic.  If it continues to be painful see a podiatrist for possible removal which probably could be done arthroscopically.

An ankle brace: Or orthotic while walking is probably a good idea. If pt failed and after the above advice you may want to consider surgical correction, if the issue is a problem.

Sprain PTT: The area being tender is probably the posterior tibial tendon on the medial part of the ankle. It can get sore independently or after a sprain. For this tendon problem i would recommend an arch support in a supportive tennis shoe and this rehab program: http://orthoinfo.Aaos.Org/pdfs/rehab_foot_and_ankle_4.Pdf         achilles stretching is very important.

how do i know if my ankle bones are misaligned after an ankle sprain? my doc didn't realign my ankle bones by joint manipulation.   is this compulsory

Xray: An x-ray would show you the alignment of the bones.  If your injury only resulted in spraining of the ankle joint ligaments, the joint should still be in alignment.  Only if your ankle joint was dislocated would realignment be required.

can i still work out while wearing a walking boot? #nqlu i have a fractured bone in my foot due to an ankle sprain and must wear a walking boot for 6 weeks for the bone to heal. what type of exercises can i still engage in?

You : You can engage in any upper body activity you like, and can also swim.  I would not engage in any activity that involves you standing or putting any pressure on your foot / ankle or leg.  That would include cycling.

Inflammation.: The bone can be inflammed and may be on the brink of fracturing. You should be  seeing an orthopedic foot/ankle specialist.

: High ankle sprains involves the anterior tibia-fibula ligament. This type of sprain requires very aggressive treatment immobilizing for a minimum of 4 weeks. I would immobilize on crutches for 4-5 weeks and re-evaluate at that time   When you bear weight the talus helps to separate the bones . If this fails surgical consideration will be needed.

You: Injured probably a nerve. Give time to heal it. Basically, be patient, it should pass.
