Varies: There are a number of potential causes.  If it is causing you enough trouble, i would encourage you to be seen.  One common cause is a "sciatica" which is an irritation of the nerves in the back that can cause pain that runs from the knee to the ankle, but there are many other causes as well.  Many of which have a pretty simple cure.

Ice: Lots of ice! elevate. Compression bandage. And try to take all the pressure off the area. If you can't make the pain subside then seek immediate medical attention.

Plantar fasciitis: This sounds like you had plantar fasciitis and Achilles tendonitis. These two conditions commonly occur together.  If the whole ankle now hurts other things could be going on as well so you should see a foot and ankle specialist and start doing some Achilles tendon stretching several times a day.

Let me explain: Did your family doctor do all test and examination to find out if it is fine?
This includes x-ray, mri, blood test, if he did? I would ask if he could send you for a consult to see bone (orthopedic surgeon)?
