Where in ankle?: Posterior impingement pain from a prominent bone (os trigonum) or tendon (fhl) impingement can  be worsened with activities that involve repetitive flexing like driving.  Having the ankle in a dependent position for prolonged periods can aggrevate a variety of conditions. If bad enough, see an orthopaedic ankle specialist.

Sick Anl;e.: A history of several ankle sprains can definitely be part of, if not, the total reason for your problem. The successive injuries have probably destabilized the soft tissue supporting the ankle. The swelling and stiffness help to hold the unstable in check. You will need to have the ankle evaluated. Specific treatment can then be established to help with your problem.

Achilles tendonitis: Posterior ankle pain that hurts worse when you stand is typically the insertion of the Achilles' tendon that has become inflamed.  Ice the area and wear shoes with an open back but not flats.
Find a shoe wear heel is at least one inch higher.
Rest area limit exercise, find a good sneaker or shoe store and get a dorsiflexion night splint.

Hard to say: I am not sure what type of work you do or type of shoes you wear. If you stand up for a long time, wearing high heeled shoes, this may be reason for suck pain. Please consider seeing a podiatrist or orthopod for evaluation. also what type of pain? Is id dull pain, sharp shooting pain?

Yes: Since this would affect your gate and stability of your joints. In addition, the rubbing from a loose shoe may cause skin irritation as well. Perhaps you need to talk to a shoe repair shop to find out if they can stretch out a proper size shoe for the right foot to accommodate the bunion.

Change shoes: first change your shoes to a wide shoe and take anti inflammatory meds NSAID meds, if that doesn't help then get a xray.

Ankle pain: Ankle pain is a complex animal....And, before you can heal the pain, you have to know the cause... For example, chronic or acute synovitis, impingement lesion, joint effusion, chronic strained ligaments...Just to name a few. 1st, find out what is wrong, and then ask your choices..  
See a specialist, get examined..X-ray, mri..Whatever is needed, and then you will know.
