Ankle sprain: Ankle sprain, ankle arthritis, achilles insertional tendonitis, stress fracture of the ankle, cartilage damage in the ankle joint, torn ligaments on the inner or outer ankle.  Any of these problems can cause pain or symptoms at rest or with wt-bearing.  Trust me this is not an all inclusive list of ankle disorders.

Hand foot&mouth dise: Yes the adults have the same symptoms and sign, but the symptoms are mild and it is less common in adults, as they might have been exposed to the virus and have some immunity.

Fever/spots/pain: Hfm is a viral infection. Some have fever, localized spots on their wrists & nothing else. Some have terrible mouth sores, spots on wrists/forearms/legs feet & around the bottom & have cramping & loose stools. Most have a mild case as kids and many go unlabled.Few have enough problems they become dehydrated. It is more a cosmetic issue than a threat.They are contagious until fever free.

Check with your Dr.: Hand foot and mouth disease is a relatively mild short lived viral illness.  VERY RARELY it can be harmful to a developing fetus.  If you have been ill or you have additional concerns, consult your doctor.

i am a 25 year old female from scotland i have had the virus hand foot and mouth disease 6 times in 3 years it keeps recurring in me for some reason is there any answer to why! i have never been near anyone with it or worked with children   ?

Doubt the label: There are 3 strains of enterovirus known to cause the HFM pattern &amp; it most often occurs in childhood. A rare episode can occur in adults. Each strain would trigger longstanding immunity to that strain. I doubt that the label is correct &amp; this may indicate you have a separate unrelated disorder worth a more thorough evaluation. A dermatologist or infectious disease specialist may be helpful.

Trauma: Trauma or injury can involve any part of the ankle mechanism, including skin , subcutaneous( fatty)tissue, nerves , tendons, ligaments and bones. Most non bone injuries heal reasonably well with immobilization with a splint, plaster cast or boot. X-rays show only bone fractures and if the fracture line is very thin or the two or more pieces of bone are not far apart, the xrays can be negative.

You can: Just be prepared to live with a bad result.  Good treatment depends on the specific nature, location and degree of displacement of the fracture. Some require surgical fixation while others need time and a splnt. Get an expert opinion quickly so all your options are available.

Sometimes: Lyme arthritis may effect the ankle joint. If there is no swelling it is unlikely to be related to lyme.
