These include local anesthetics, tylenol, (acetaminophen) or nsaids such as Ibuprofen or naprosyn.

Peripheral nerve catheters are increasingly popular as well, as are plastic tubes threaded into joints for postop analgesia using an anesthetic reservoir and/or pump.

Pain Medicine: Analgesia is the term to describe any pain medication given to you so that you don't feel anything during your procedure. Depending on the situation it could refer to local anesthetic, nitrous oxide, any IV sedation, or a handful of other products intended to make you more comfortable. None during RCT: Analgesia is not trypically used during rct, as the procedure is done under local anesthesia. Your dentist may prescribe nsaids after the procedure if necessary.

Better pain control: With patient controlled analgesia you get better pain control with less side effects and usage of narcotics is less than when narcotics are given intravenous by nurses as needed.
