Antibiotics: Antibiotics will not cure a dental abscess, just help control the severity and spread of the infection.  You probably need root canal or removal and replacement of the infected tooth.  Does your Dentist have an emergency contact number?  He/she can call in an antibiotic renewal to help you until you can be seen for difinative treatment.

Mumps: Parotitis may occur during mumps infections but this is nothing like a dental abscess. See a dentist and get this issue resolved. Good luck.

See a dentist: You obviously have a problem, yet you are not having it treated. It will only get worse, and eventually cause an emergency and/or possible loss of that tooth. In the end, you will still have to see a dentist.

Probably happens.: I would imagine that you could have mild headaches after a dental extraction, and headaches might be a side effect of the antibiotic. the tooth's nerve root should be dead after my root canal 6 months ago. so, how did i get a dental abcess if all the canals were perfectly done?

It happens: Sometimes an extra or inaccessible canal can cause the situation you describe, even years after the root canal procedure. It will likely require another look to search for one of these or possibly an apicoectomy to remove the very tip of the root where unfavorable anatomy sometimes makes a perfect fill almost impossible. Best to get back to the treating dentist for an assessment.

got one swollen lymph node(mild) on the right side of my neck.got a dental abcess but on the left side can that be the causes or is it something else?

Maybe another abcess: If you have an abcess on one side you may have one you're not aware of on the other...or other source of infection on that side. Get it checked out

i'm on amoxicillin for a dental abcess. i have chills and fatigue, but no fever. could this be a medication reaction? do i stop taking amoxicillin?

Call Dentist: Chills/fatigue may be due to the antibiotic or due to the abscess toxins.  Report your symptoms to your treating Dentist.  Antibiotics will reduce spread of infection, but a cure requires specific dental treatment (root canal or extraction).  Please call your Dentist now.
