Depends on cause: There are many causes of amenorrhea, and thus treatment depends on cause. If due to pcos, then weight loss, exercise, lifestyle change and medications can help. If due to athlete's triad (underweight), then increasing body fat percentage may help. If due to other hormonal (thyroid, prolactin, androgen, etc), or anatomic causes (pituitary, ovaries, uterus, etc), then need to address specific issue.

Not exactly: Some causes of amenorrhea (loss of menstrual periods) can include severe weight loss and illness, so i suppose it is distantly possible.  That being said, the nature of the common cold is that it should not make one sick enough for long enough to produce amenorrhea. Some women have rather irregular cycles which are exquisitely sensitive to physical or emotional stress and in that case possibly.

Pregnancy first !!: Must rule out pregnancy first ! if no menses prior (called primary amenorrhea) abve age 15yrs, then anatomical causes also must be considered (lack of uterus, blood flow blockage, etc). If menses took place prior (called secondary amenorrhea) then hormonal causes such as elevated prolactin, testosterone or low thyroid should be considered. Significant weight loss also possible. Talk with your pcp.

Absense of menses: Term referrs to not getting periods for greater then 3 months in a row. If you had normal periods, then develop amenorrhea, check for pregnancy first (most common cause). Other causes could be due to excessive exercise or excessive dieting. Some women with pcos develop amenorrhea. If you never had a period, may have a problem with anatomy or pituitary.
