how to keep ambien (zolpidem) working? only med that has ever worked for me. will it have cross tolerance with other meds like klonopin? i know it's short term but the belsomra rx i was given doesn't look promising at all.

Zolpidem,"Belsomra"]: Belsomra hit the market less than a year ago.  I am wary of psychoactive drugs of a new class which have not been extensively studied.  I despise drug companies overpricing their meds like this one (&gt;$270 for 30 tabs), with coupons. The FDA will OK a new drug for study, but will rely on people reporting bad side effects not originally listed--sometimes so severe the drug will be withdrawn.

is it dangerous to take 2 mg of klonopin, 10 mg of ambien (zolpidem) and 50 mg of trazodone all within a half hour in order to sleep? i'm a 140 lb woman.

Not a good idea: Research consistently shows that taking sleeping medicines like Ambien (zolpidem) plus benzodiazepines like Klonopin increase risk for bad things like falling &amp; breaking hips. Confusion, car accidents, etc too. Trazodone is also sedating. All in all, a very bad combination from my perspective. FDA recently limited new prescriptions of Ambien (zolpidem) in women to just 5mg daily. Klonopin 2mg is largest dose too.

150 mg trazodone, 1 mg klonopin. and 10 mg ambien (zolpidem). ambien (zolpidem) doesn't work for me by itself been on klonopin for years. trazodone was great in the past. any thoughts.? sounds like a major hangover to me.

Medication effects: Trazodone and Klonopin may cause insomnia.
Klonopin may cause Depression, emotional lability, confusion.
Ambien (zolpidem) may cause drugged feeling, confusion.
Using Trazodone with Ambien (zolpidem) and Klonopin may increase dizziness, difficulty concentrating, some impairment in thinking and judgment.

sleep doc switched me from ambien (zolpidem) to ambien (zolpidem) cr. i told him ambien (zolpidem) wasn't working any longer. he also put me back on trazodone 150 which i told him stopped working in sept. kept me on klonopin 1 mg. confused by his actions?

Insomnia: I understand your need to have good sleep.
Trazodone is a medication for Depression, Klonopin for Anxiety, Ambien (zolpidem) and Ambien (zolpidem) CR for sleep problem which loses its effectiveness after 3-4 weeks.
Medications ineffectiveness indicates need for Diagnosis, Therapy by a Psychiatrist for stresses in life which could be relationship, marriage, separation, unresolved painful feelings; medication as needed

Sleeping Pill: Let me see if I understand your question correctly.  You are taking a sleeping pill and you are concerned that they make you groggy.That is what they are designed to do!  If you are groggy when you wake up then you are taking too high of a dose of the medication.  All of the doses you have mentioned are the high range of the medication. Halcion is much longer acting.  Ask your doc about 1/2 Ambien (zolpidem)

40mg citalopram in am, 4mg klonopin during day, 900mg gabapentin w dinner, 25mg seroquel @ night.  can i take 10mg of ambien (zolpidem) with the seroquel?

No: No, u r already on multiple medications  and many of them sedative.

dr just added 25 mg of trazadone for sleep...does this make sense rather than add ambien (zolpidem) or go up on klonopin?

Yes: Trazodone is a an antidepressant which is often added at bedtime for it's sedating effect to help insomnia. It is non-addicting, therefore preferred for longer term use. The 25 mg dose is low and reasonable. Your mood may also improve. Hope this helps.

how long should a dr prescribe ambien (zolpidem)? i have been on it for almost 2 years. he just keeps changing the combo. ambien/trazadone; ambien/klonopin, etc

3 weeks: Ambien (zolpidem) may be used for up to 3 weeks.  Trazadone can be used long term.
