i am experiencing uti pain and i cannot make it to a clinic until the morning. i purchased azo maximum strength but i have a 2 month old baby who is breastfeeding. how long do i have to wait to breastfeed him after a take this medication?

: Unless you has history of G6PD, you can take azo when breasfeeding a 2-month-old boy. Boy's urine may change to orange color too if he absorbs enough azo from your milk.

No: Pain relief medicine will not cause any problems with the tests done to look for a urinary tract infection.  A urinalysis and urine culture won't be affected by pain medications.

Repeat question: Same question answered recently. URI Kleer is safe in nursing women, but not an effective UTI treatment. See previous reply.

Safe but useless: URI Kleer probably is safe in breastfeeding, but will not cure any UTI. It is marketed to prevent UTIs, not cure them -- and probably doesn't even work for prevention. If you think you have a UTI, get proper care including diagnosis, and a proper antibiotic. Good luck!

is it safe to take azo cranberry pills for a uti/bladder infection while breastfeeding a 7 week old?

Safe for baby but...: Cranberry has always been controversial, but from recent research we know for sure it does not prevent or treat UTI. The "azo" component is phenazypyridine, a bladder anesthetic:  it somewhat numbs the inside of the bladder and helps reduce symptoms, but doesn't cure UTI. You need to have a proper antibiotic by prescription. In any case, it won't harm your baby.

Depends on the type: Of antibiotic, your Doctor will advise you better, meanwhile keep hydrating yourself, good for the UT I and nursing, goodluck

2-3 days at most: but since Azos are cleared well by the kidneys.  Be sure to monitor the symptoms to make sure you have cleared the infection.  These things tend to come back if not treated with a broader spectrum antibiotic.  Good luck and congratulations on committing to breast feeding your baby.
