Yeast?: The main vaginal infections treated with metronidazole are trichomonas and bacterial vaginosis. Your symptoms don't suggest either one. They are typical of a yeast infection. You could try an over-the-counter yeast cream or suppository (look for active ingredient ending in "azole" (clotrimazole, miconazole, etc). If that doesn't work, see a doctor or clinic for diagnsis and treatment. Good luck!

: Most people who are allergic to PCN do not have problem with cephalosporin antibiotic so you can take first or second generation cephalosporin. Dentists commonly prescribe cephalexin (keflex). Erythromycin or clindamycin can also be used in patients with G6PD. We do not use metronidazole for oral condition but it is not contraindicated in G6PD patients.

metronidazole and orelox has been prescribed for bacterial vaginitis.  took the metronidazole  and vag burning seemed to ease up.  took orelox hours later and the burning is 100 times worse. whats my alternative should i stick it out for the 7 days?

i was diagnosed with bacterial vaginosis about 2 years ago. i've taken doxycycline first then metronidazole. doxycycline reduced discharge but it came back after sometime. metronidazole-no effects. i'd like to know if there's alternative treatment?

: In view of no effect by metro. and poor by doxy- I would suggest an exam by a Gyn to see for any local problem and to also re-culture the area In the meantime keeping the area clean, using a condom and trying a OTC boric acid product
