i took thc 4 months ago and had extremely bad anxiety. ever since, i have had symptoms almost identical to als(stiffness, constant musclespasms, feeling weak, possibly atrophy). did i get unfortunate, and now my brain is shutting down as a response?

: Instead of pondering what has occurred, suggest you become proactive, make an appointment with an experienced psychiatrist and further evaluate the anxiety and your other symptoms.  You can turn this around and get back on track.  You do NOT have ALS!

i suffer from extreme anxiety. i googled als symptoms because of my thigh twitching and now i'm worried because my legs feel fatigued. anxiety do thi?

Get anxiety control: Yes, anxiety can do it - and so can other things that are not as awful as ALS. Here's good info about that Dx - it's not likely - but you can drive yourself to be miserable. CBT therapy can teach skills to avoid, reduce and manage anxiety - there you can use this ALS fear as a target. It may involve a physical exam to convince/train you. It really can help avoid misery. Best!

on the 13th i was waiting for my brain mri, i thought i had brain cancer. i cried all night, on the 15th i developed muscle twitching, muscle soreness. mri ruled out any mass. now i'm worried about als. could symptoms be delayed symptoms of anxiety?

: One must wait to worry, otherwise you can become a hypochondriac and always feel sick from one ailment to the other.
Muscle twitching is common in normal healthy people. Moreover it is not a characteristic sign of MS. So you can relax and assume yourself to be healthy unless proven otherwise.

ive had anxiety about als lately. how do i get tested for this? so it can most likely be ruled out and i can take my life back

ALS: As far as I know no one be will put through the extensive and, sometimes, uncomfortable tests for ALS unless they are truly symptomatic and all other possibilities have been ruled out. I would suggest speaking to your primary care physician to discuss whatever symptoms you may be experiencing. If nothing else shows up, locate a good therapist to work on anxiety reducing strategies.

Why are you worried?: If you have been evaluated by a neurologist and have been told that you don't have ALS you should be joyful and enjoy your life. Try to engage in anxiety reducing activities. Consider yoga. Consultation with a mental health professional may also be of benefit to explore the basis for your anxiety.

Counseling: Cannot explain why you are having anxiety, but no reason to delay dealing with it.  I believe a therapist would be far more helpful than using medication.  A psychiatrist, psychologist, or even a social worker, can assist you.

i have anxiety, taking escitalopram 20mg, since 2 weeks have dull pain and weakness in both thighs..can it be something serious or just anxiety? als?

See your PCP first.: Although anxiety can certainly cause muscle tightness it is seldom felt specifically in the thighs. Escitalopram will help with the anxiety and depression but before you dismiss the pain and weakness as due to anxiety, have your pcp run some tests to exclude other conditions. I would not jump at ALS either.

Anxiety help: Without any weakness over that time frame, the Neuro is right - ALS is not likely. But you do feel worried and a good Health Psychologist might help you as you investigate. They can evaluate the emotional part and refer you to physicians w/ their impressions of the physical part. That's a bit like having an attorney. If the Dr didn't mention MS. I don't want to worry you, but that's worth a nod.

: If you are not confident in your Doctor please see another to get the tests you need and a second opinion.

right arm, hand and right foot feel tight and heavy. no real weakness. random muscles twitches throughout body. tongue also feels too big for mouth and feels like its in the way when talking. i have very bad health anxiety. could this be early als?

: Before attributing symptoms to health anxiety, I recommend an  evaluation by a neurologist to exclude a neurological disorder such as Parkinson's disease, for example. This will also give you peace of mind.
