Yes, but it's good: You've had a relatively short duration of use, so it will be easier for you to taper off use and get past the w/drawal effects. I've heard a very safe pattern is to step down 0.25mg in dose every 2 weeks till gone. So, 1.25mg/day then 1mg, then 0.75mg, then 0.5, to 0.25 and FREE! 2-1/2 months to a safe landing. Or, better yet - ask a provider to guide you off safely. Be careful w/ Rx's. Best 2U!

Tremors: No. Tremors are usually not anxiety but can be an essential reality in many people. But, the anti-anxiwety medicine, alprazolam, is often used to sedate the muscle movement.

i have tremors in my stomach upon entering rem sleep.  i have ptsd and was taken off xanax (alprazolam) in 2 weeks by a va intern 2 years ago. need cause/solution!

Many possibilities: You should meet with a neurologist to see if it is neurological or stress-related.  Have you had a sleep study - how do you know the tremors happen with REM?  Is it related to nightmares?  You also could have a Functional Neurological condition.  Also sounds like you have concerns about the way the Xanax (alprazolam) was stopped and whether it might be related, a question you can ask upon evaluation, as well.

: Sounds like a paradoxical reaction, and your doctor needs to know.  Not clear as to true benefit of the Xanax you currently possess, and would not use again until cleared by your doctor.

my mom was switched from xanax (alprazolam) to phenobarbital yesterday and now she is has whole body shakes heart is racing and cold. is this normal withdrawal symptoms or take to hospital now? very concerned

Withdrawal: Your mom is given phenobarb to prevent seizure, but she is having withdrawal, and the dose of phenobarb is dependent on level to work and whether it really works for her. It is best to take her to urgent care or er to be looked at before she has a seizure. I don't know how old she is and withdrawal can be devastating. A stepwise process may help better but up to the md, but she seems to need help.

Side effects: Fluoxetine like all antidepressants in that class of medications can cause both tremors and dizziness. Notify your prescribing physician or psychiatrist that you're experiencing these side effects and maybe the dose will be tapered or reduced.

Acute Anxiety: I am so sorry to hear this.This is one of the most traumatic events in life as you are finding out.  I know from similar experience.  You need someone to talk to, a close friend a coworker, preferable someone who has gone through this.  You need, although you don't want to, a therapist. Benzodiazepine: Xanax (alprazolam) is a benzodiazepine that has a fairly short half-life.  This can increase the risk of addiction to the medication.  There are other benzodiazepines with longer half-lives.  I like those better, if I have to use a benzodiazepine with a patient.  There are risks with this medication that includes addiction , dependence, some have some constipation, over-sedation, and respiratory suppression.
