Could be: Uricinol s composed of 8 extracts of vegetables and herbs none of which have been shown to help gout that it is advertised for. Also none have been studied and found safe with either allopurinol or blood pressure drugs which have been studied and found effective..Don`t waste your money or be a guinea pig for side effects.

Preventive: Colchicine (aka Colcrys in the us), Aleve (naproxen) or other nsaids, or low dose Prednisone are acceptable drugs to prevent gout flares while starting allopurinol. Ask your doctor which is best for you.

Depends...: Based on your lab results Allopurinol dosage should be adjusted as the uric acid levels lower.  Many gout medications can be taken as a maintenance dose if it is chronic gout.   Check with your doctor who prescribed your meds to adjust the dose or even change the medication.

Yes: You should never be started on Allopurinol alone as it commonly can precitpitate gout early in the treatment. Always take Colchicine 1 tab daily with it until your serum uric acid level is stable at 6 mg/dl or less. Hold Allopurinol during the acute attack and treat the attack either with Prednisone or nsaids. Colchicine is not my first choice for acute attacks.

Not really: Allopurinol is a life long therapy.  Stay on it. There is no natural substitute.

You can: try both together but if not helping in 24-48 hours stop Allopurinol ..take Colchicine alone for 5-7 days then restart Allopurinol ......hope this is  helpful!

i've had a gout attack yesterday after 5 years & took allopurinol 2 x 100mg yesterday & 1 x 100 mg today. no relief. can i take colchicine also?

Wrong move: Allopurinol will prolong the attack. Stop it  immediately. It is only used on a daily basis to prevent future attacks.  Colchicine is not very effective unless it is started very early in the attack. Use an NSAID such as naproxen or indomethacin.
