i have a very itchy rashes all over my body. my previous doctor gave me medrol dose pack 4mg for 5 days assuming its allergy but i finished the medication and the rashes spreaded more and its so itchy that i cannot control.  is it scabies?

Scabies: It might be scabies. You should see a Dr to diagnose the rash and give you a prescription for the appropriate medication. Scabies is treated with a prescription cream that you apply at bedtime and leave on overnight, washing it off in the morning. All clothes, sheets, towels will have to be washed and dried in high heat to kill the parasite. All members of your household should be treated.

Yes: Absolutely. The medication has a variety of effects. Other people noticed increased alertness, even possibly irritability. In addition to having anti-inflammatory properties - which it looks like is the reason you're taking the medication - one of the other things this drug clas does is mimic and stimulate the body's fight or flight response. And that is consistent with what you're noticing now.

Best to avoid: It is best to avoid. Hopefully it is not a problem for you to go 6 days without alcohol. If that is a problem, it is a bigger one than mixing whiskey with medrol (methylprednisolone) dosepak. Best

Too much stimulant.: I'd be concerned about the additive side effects of that combination.  By different mechanisms, both Sudafed and Methylprednisolone can act as stimulants, and in combination this effect will be more prominent.  If you were prescribed the steroid, I'd probably take that and not the Sudafed.  Else, confer with the prescribing doctor if you feel this treatment is not helping.

Medrol: There is no reason not to take a steroid pack every month IF THERe IS  medical indication for prescribing that. However steroids taken too frequently and with out proper indications can lead to complications

if the half-life of zithromax (5 day dose pack) is 68 hours, wouldn't that mean that i'm taking more of the medicine each day since it's a daily dose? or is this not necessarily the case? how long would it remain in my system after the last dose?

: This is a medicine that can be taken all at once or in separated doses to reduce GI irritation seen in many on the one dose method. The cited half-life can vary some in individuals. It takes about 4 'half-lives' for a drug to me metabolized and leave the body. The desire of treatment is to keep the tissue level of the drug high enough for long enough to kill the germs. Dosing is based on research.
