took levaquin (levofloxacin) recently due to allergies to other meds. i heard can cause mental issues. is this while taking it or permanent? should i be worried??

No: The problem is its potentially to weaken your tendons causing tears esp at the heels.  A few people with a cardiac abnormality may develop rhythm problem from taking levaquin (levofloxacin).  Mental problem is not a common issue at all.  Having said that, the majority of people who have taken the quinolone class (levaquin (levofloxacin) (levofloxacin) is one) of abx do not end up with complications but safer option be chosen if available.

i am having reaction to ciprofloxacin, levofloxacin etc. .. now my doctor has given me azithromycin for my cough. will i be allergic to it too?

Different families: Ciprofloxacin and Levofloxacin  are fluoroquinolone drugs.  Azithromycin is a macrolide.  They are different families of drugs and shouldn't put you at risk of a reaction in general.

The real question is if you even need a antibiotic at all for your cough.  If there's no fever or you aren't really sick or having a productive cough it could be a virus.  And antibiotics are only for bacteria.

Depends: Depends on what type of infection you have and where it is located but if Levaquin (levofloxacin) is the only antibiotic you've had a reaction to then chances are good that there's another antibiotic that will work for you.

Chronic urticaria: Chronic urticaria is a hive lasting more than 6 weeks. Triggers include cold weather, grass, animal dander, chemicals, perfumes, food, friction  among some. Antihistamine  (benadryl) may help.

Penicillin allergy: No, penicillin and Levofloxacin do not cross react. Penicillin is a beta lactam antibiotic and Levofloxacin is a quinolone; they are not related. . Occasional people seem to react to many different types of medications that are not related; this     phenomenon is called multiple drug allergy syndrome. Unless you have other drug allergies already, this is unlikely to happen to you.

: Levaquin is a potent medication with a high profile of side effects, including liver problems, hepatitis, muscular/tendon, neuropathy and aortic ruptures/tears. Because of this they carry the FDA's most serious warning, a black box warning. If you are on this medication, your Dr determined that the risk profile was balanced by your infection. DO NOT take chances by adding other compounds, esp Weed

hello doctor i took urine test & result is positive bacteria, but i dont know what bacteria, doctor gave urinter 400 mg, levofloxacin 500mg, dexycyline 100mg, if the bacteria are trichomona, clamydia, or gonorea, can these antibiotic cure it ? thnk?

: The urine test-culture &amp; sensitivity gives the kind of bacteria and what antibiotics work on them. The antibiotics mentioned usually work on all of them. I do not know what 'urinter' is. Never hesitate to ask your doc about what you have and what medicine used, possible side effects at the time of treatment. Hope you do well
