: Since the FDA doesn't investigate supplements like that, most physicians are reluctant to ok them as we can't be sure of contaminants, interactions with your meds, side effects, proper dosage or claims of efficacy.  Your pharmacist may have more information for you.

i'm 18 and have a very high blood pressure.the doctor put me on norvasc (amlodipine) 5 mg. i'm scared that i'm going to have a deadly reaction. what should i do?

Norvasc (amlodipine) at 18: You are rather young to have essential hypertension (h) at your age. I would ask your doctor to consider you a case of secondary hypertension (s), i.e. When your h is caused by secondary factors. Some examples are a renal artery stenosis or conn's syndrome, among others. If you do have s, treatment of its cause may get you off blood pressure meds. If you do not have s, Norvasc (amlodipine) is a safe drug.

Yes.: That's simply too high, especially if this would be a normal reading for you.  If you get numbers like this regularly, you need medication.

Not a good idea: Over the counter supplements are generally not a good idea if you are taking prescribed medications.  Talk to your doctor.

RU obese?: If you're overweight, weight reduction will lower your BP. If you're not, you can lower your BP a little by avoiding salt. Beyond that, it's genetically determined and the only thing you can do to avoid the complications of HBP (stroke, heart attack, kidney failure, heart failure, premature death) is control it. Meds are usually required.

i take high blood pressure medication, losartan 100 mg.  the other day i took dramamine 3 tablets during the day at a theme park.   i had an syncopal episode the next morning at 10.   could this be from the combination of dramamine and losartan?

Lorsartsn faint: Would not think it was the losartan + DRA.  Was it hot at the theme park &amp;you got salt &amp; water dehydrated? Did your BP change?  If u are not taking it at home you should be. Check it seated and standing.

Or some with HBP get some dizzyness when they get a salt bomb lit

Do you get some bad food at park &amp; have a GI problem?  Or get a salt bomb (food at park) &amp; BP SHOT up? Discuss with team.

At night: There is recent medical evidence out that taking your BP meds at night leads to better control of your blood pressure that ultimately  decreases your risk of cardiac and renal disease.

Yes, but...: Do not abruptly discontinue drugs for hypertension although it is possible to slowly adjust down their dosage in conjunction with lifestyle modification. So, keeping on taking anti-hypertensives until re-evaluated by your doctor.
