Not recommended: In fatty liver disease, damage may be reversed if you abstain from alcohol for at least 2 weeks. Alcoholic liver disease starts with fatty liver, goes on to fibrosis and cirrhosis, &amp; a severe form of alcoholic hepatitis For alcoholic hepatitis , stopping alcohol is necessary—and will lead to improvements in most patients—but may not be sufficient to stop the dx recc not too easy to increase again

Risk: If your drinking was considerable enough to lead to alcoholic hepatitis it is a real risk to take drinking back up. The majority of people with this disease drank heavily over a number of years.

Can recover: One can recover from alcoholic hepatitis without lasting harm, provided one refrains from alcohol, maintains normal weight, exercises about 150 minute/week, avoid hepatotoxic drugs like acetaminophen. Your ALT and globulins are higher than normal and may require additional monitoring. It is not feasible to say anything about cirrhosis without examining you, and may be liver biopsy.

in 2019 was hospitalised with acute alcoholic hepatitis. made full recovery but with enlarged normal liver. recent routine blood tests were normal, but concerned of weight gain round stomach. how likely is ascites with a normal blood test? thanks?

: Blood tests have nothing to do with ascites.  But having all tests normal would make it unlikely. 
Ask your Dr to test you for "shifting dullness". In your abdomen I mean.  ;-) Dr humor.  Classic sign that can be detected at the bedside if practiced but I fear it is a lost art.

Probably OK, but...: This probably means you have stopped drinking, right? If so, congratulations -- keep it up! And if so, it probably means a good prognosis and perhaps low chance of cirrhosis. However, there is no way a distant forum expert can know with certainty. Follow up with your doctor. If any doubt and your doc has not referred you to a liver specialst, that would be a good next step. Good luck.

No: "hepatitis tests" are tests for viral hepatitis, the most common of which are A (infectious hepatitis), B and C (but there are others).  There is no specific test for alcoholic hepatitis, but there are certain patterns of liver enzymes that are more typically seen with alcohol-related damage. A liver biopsy can show changes consistent with alcohol, but these are also seen with diabetes and obesity

Difficult to say: Without understanding how severe the case of alcohol hepatitis, as in the most severe cases(rare) sometimes liver transplantation is necessary.  Hepatic encephalopathy can be seen in more severe cases of alcoholic hepatitis.
