Could be: It may be a reaction to sulfite if your reaction mostly happens with wine and not other forms of alcoholic drinks. It can also be a sensitivity to alcohol itself, if you react to all alcoholic drinks, some individuals can break out in hives from it.

Alcohol: Effects depend on the amount consumed. Small to moderate consumption causes reduced risks of blood clots , stone formation , diabetes & rheumatoid arthritis.  Large consumption causes impaired memory & vision, anemia, cardiomyopathy, hepatitis, cancer mouth/esophagus, gastritis, pancreatitis, diabetes type 2, depression, anxiety, psychosis, insomnia, panic, cravings.

Yes: Rubbing alcohol is a poison that should not be inhaled or consumed.  It is to be used on the skin to clean a wound.  It can cause severe metabolic problems and even death if ingested.  Ethyl or drinking alcohol should also not be inhaled.  The intoxication that occurs from its inhalation can also be fatal.

No: Benadryl is diphenhydramine, an anticholinergic antihistamine over-the-counter medication used for allergies. It can be sedating and is found in sleep aids for this reason. It does not contain alcohol.

Usually Not: I'm not sure if your asking whether drinking alcoholic beverages or soaking your retainers in alcohol will damage your retainers. Drinking will not damage the retainer. As for cleaning the retainer, i never recommend using alcohol because isopropyl alcohol is not for consumption. Most of my patients use mouthwash to soak/keep retainers clean (which can contail some alcohol).

No. : Alcohol will strip away all of the natural oils that you do need and dry out your skin too much. Not only will you have dry and flaky skin, but usually it becomes oily as a result of trying to replace what is lost. Try a more gentle astringent or toner.
