: This is defined by your own unique genetics. I find fexofenadine works better than either of these. Zyrtec (cetirizine) is a bit sedating to most, Claritin (loratadine) is the cheapest in generic form. Try them all &amp; you'll decide what works for you.

?: Similasan is herbal used by homeopath, it contains senega which loosens mucus through irritation of mucus membranes, thus more mucus is produced , hence expectorated,  claritin (loratadine) though decreases secretions and not meant to be an expectorant  rather  at times it works as a cough suppressant, at any  rate if you have cold symptoms and are in doubt, rest,  fluids and either medicine would help,

See an allergist: If none of these OTC meds worked, unlikely that anything else will, you need to be evaluated, good history and physical examination. See your doctor first for initial evaluation, who would refer you or check aaaai.org or acaai.org for an allergist in your area, best wishes

Interesting...: In general, there is not a difference. However, individuals are somewhat unique. If a person finds that one of the allergy meds works better for his eye allergies and the other one seems better for his nose allergies, it is fine for him to tailor his medication to his symptoms. No worries.

i likely have covid (haven't tested positive but am starting to show symptoms) and want to know if i can take theraflu severe cold relief while taking my regular prescription drug bupropion. i also just took a claritin 24-hour. thank you?

Expected: The D is a stimulant and thus it is not surprising that you end up with insomnia.  Mucinex (guaifenesin) D will cause similar side effects.  Nasal steroid is far more effective and would not cause insomnia or drowsiness.

much risk of covid reinfection after ~12 mo? brother had it mild june 2020. he now has cough and runny nose but also a pollen allergy so probably that. (claritin always works but isnt now). would it more likely be asymptomatic/unnoticeable 2nd time?

: Reinfections have occurred and I would expect that a weaker infection would then be likely. However I'm reluctant to hang my hat on anything about this nasty virus at this time.

how do i know if i am contagious? i do not  have a fever. i do have a persistent sinus yuck behind my left eye, even after taking claritin. alka-seltzer plus gives temporary relief from constant clear running sinus.  no thick clear, yellow or green fluid

Sinus: Sinus congestion can commonly come on secondary to allergies. Treatment for allergic sinus congestion can be aided by antihistamine, decongestant , nasal steroid (Flonase) and frequent nasal saline flush.
