Many others: Spiriva, tudorza both are long acting muscarinic dilators. Daliresp a pill that decreases exacerbation rates. Other fixed drug combos like advair are symbicort (budesonide and formoterol) and dulera. Also theophylline . Nebulized albuterol  , and Perforomist or Brovana which are longacting dilators, also oral steroids.

Very involved : It is a very big deal to donate a lung to someone. In fact, i don't think i've ever heard of a living lung donor. It's a big surgery, and you could lose more than half your lung function. Usually, lungs come from deceased donors. It's a noble thought, but i'm not sure the transplant surgeon would do that. Good luck to your nana.

Go to doctor: There are many medications and inhalers available that could make you feel more comfortable. Less breathless, less hot.

can the new drug for cystic fibrosis, kalydeco, (ivacaftor) be taken by someone with copd..would it help?

Unlikely: CF is a disease where the mucous your lungs make is very thick.  COPD is caused by smoking (usually) and results in loss of lung tissue.  Chronic bronchitis is one form of copd, but the mucous produced is normal.  Talk to your doctor.

High pulse rate: or tachycardia could be caused by Albuterol inhalation.  If so, you may change this to Ipratropium    and/or inhaled steroids.  Please   discuss with your provider the side effects of your medications.

can i have copd if i have 93% fev/fvc ratio but 71% for fvc and 79% for fev1? also my doco is 67% and my rv is 157%???? im female 28 years old, no smoker, healthy, no chemicals, no drugs, no alcohol!!!! drs say no copd but the number said it could be

Antihistamine  dry up mucus which  make getting rid of it difficult   But if  is there is lots of nasal congestion &amp; post nasal drip interfering with sleep it may be helpful . Also elevate head of bed to help with drainage and improve breathing. If there is HTN check for pseudoehprine/ phenylepherine which elevate BP f/u/doc

i am on 24/7 oxygen because i have advanced copd and i also wear a 24 hour nitroglycerine patch for chest pain every day. i would like to know if i have chest pain and difficulty breathing if i should go ahead and take a adenosine nuclear stress test?

: An adenosine stress test with out without nuclear scanning wouldn't be performed in the presence of unstable cardiac status. This is a decision only your cardiologist should render after assessing your symptoms &amp;. condition. Often in these types of situations, after the patient is considered stable, we go straight to CT fractional flow testing or actual coronary catheterization with angiography
