More Susceptible: Using inhalers doesn't give you thrush, but the inhaled steroids and powders can make it more likely that the yeast that causes thrush will over-grow causing an infection. That's why it's best to rinse your mouth out after using your inhaler, no matter what medicine it contains.

Alternative...: An alternate treatment for oral thrush would be mycelex (clotrimazole) troche, which are in the form of losenges that you dissolve in your mouth and the medicine coats your oral cavity. To prevent thrush, be sure to rinse and spit after you use your steroid inhaler, every single time. See your doctor so the losenges can be prescribed.

hospital ran d dimer/slightly elevated at .54 ct of chest/negative but do have a uti and oral thrush from advair. could my infections elevate ddimer or should i be worried about slight lower leg pain?

Yes: D diner is not a definitive test and can be elevated for different reasons. The ct of the chest rules out a pe in your lungs but not a DVT in your legs. You should follow up with your doctor.

Thrush: Otc treatments of thrush are mostly home remedies.  Gargling warm salt water is a great way to treat throat problems whether they be fungal or bacterial.  This is on top of good normal oral hygiene.  In the future, to prevent thrush from advair or other inhalers, make sure you rinse your mouth with water after using the inhaler to remove the drug from your mouth.

Medication: is usually required to get rid of thrust.  Gargling with salt water after each us of Advair can be helpful in preventing thrush.  After a person develops thrush it usually requires prescription medication to get rid of it. No...: You need an anti-fungal treatment and there are oral losenges that work well. They require a prescription so see your doctor for treatment. The best way to avoid this in the future is to rinse your mouth and spit it out after every use of the advair.

Dulera (formoterol and mometasone) &amp; Thrush: Advair &amp; Dulera (formoterol and mometasone) both contain a steroid; but the specific steroid is different.  Dulera (formoterol and mometasone) is usually only used once a day.  Are you using it more often than that?  If Yes, that could be related to developing thrush.   When on Advair, did you use it everyday or only sporadically?   Are you sure that the problem in the mouth is oral thrush?   See your doctor for an exam if this is not clear.

Thrush: Not HIV: Thrush can happen in a variety of settings. If you are not HIV positive then i think you may be on the right track.  Remember thrush is also a late stage HIV symptom...Not a newly infected with HIV symptom.
