Metabolic Epidemic : Adult obesity is often the result of excessive carbohydrates and sugars which raise blood sugar levels, increase Insulin and lead to Insulin resistance. This leads to high triglycerides (and low hdl) and fat storage, then to depressed thyroid function. This metabolic syndrome is responsible for a large percentage of hypertention, diabetes, heart disease which is the cause of millions of deaths.

Strong!: Obesity is in epidemic form in the U.S. The most important cause is the "junk", particularly sugary stuff, ice cream, sodas including, sweeteners etc. The taste mechanism is a signal to the brain that gives pleasure. It should be a combination of sweet, sour, bitter, astringent, salt and metal that gives flavor as appredciated in all "god made" food. Obesity is a reflection of hedonism.

Wieght loss, steroid: Losing weight while on steroids is tough! exercise is key in helping gain control over your appetite.  Walking three miles a day at a brisk pace has been shown to significantly reduce appetite.  If you can't walk, swimming is great.  There are also medications to help control appetite, but start with exercise and making a strict eating plan with your doctor or dietician. Good luck! i'll be rooting.

A bariatric doctor: Is the correct person to ask about medication to help w/satiety.  I see that you have a hair loss issue also.  This may be related to thyroid or other hormone levels. Makes response worse: Obesity increases the risk for infertility, miscarriage, and birth defects.  It also affects the response to fertility drugs. Crestor or Lipitor (atorvastatin): Lipitor (atorvastatin) or Crestor are both top choices.  Consider Lipitor (atorvastatin) since it has a generic and is much cheaper.  If neither of those work you may have to add on  a bile acid sequestrant like Questran which also has generic.

No: No, TB medicines don't cause weight gain, it may though but only if corticosteroids were used as part of treatment of tb!

Checked in with doc?: There sound to be a lot of things going on at once here and I can't be sure they all have to do with either the Adderall (dextroamphetamine and racemic amphetamine) or some other single problem.  You should call your doc and get in for another examination or have them make some adjustments based on your conditions.  They know you better than anyone.

hemoglobin a1c 6.2 i'm obese, already on a 1600 calorie diet with my nutritionist. should i go to the doctor to get medication? ny fasting bs every day is between 98 and 115?
