No.: There is no evidence to suggest that adhd drugs "create" psychopaths, although psychpaths certainly may take stimulants and get worse because of that.  At sustained, high doses, stimulants can cause pschosis that looks like paranoid schizophrenia.  It does not produce permanent personality changes or induce personality disorders, which is what psychopathy is.

Possible: That students use stimulants (that are frequently used for add) to avoid sleeping. Also, people who genuinely have add have studied better and more effectively after they take prescribed medicine for add. But I recommend that no one take stimulants unless prescribe for a real disorder.

ADHD medications: If someone takes a stimulant (adderall, etc) who has not been diagnosed with adhd it gives a feeling of being invincible, hyper-attentive, on top of the world. And after all that you crash and feel worse than before taking the meds. Your body will want to feel good again so you take it again and before you know it Adderall (dextroamphetamine and racemic amphetamine) is not enough, you need crack or meth. My advice? Don't do it.

: Drugs used for schizophrenia and ADHD, treat and control the symptoms and core problems of the disorders.  They relieve symptoms, improve function, but do not cure.  Therefore, if stopped, symptoms will recur, as these are not true "disease modifying agents".

What are concerns?: What are your concerns about his medication regimen? He is on a stimulant medication (Ritalin) in a fairly low dose. The clonidine (catapres) is a non-stimulant to help with the ADHD symptoms and often used as an adjunct if sleep problems. The risperidone is the only one that troubles me if he has straight ADHD and no co-morbid conditions like ODD or conduct, as  behavioral therapy is first.

Maybe: These are common meds at common dose levels. When used for an appropriate reason they do help many.

No: The older     drugs are derivitives of anfetamine . The new ones Kapvay and Intuniv are not addictive.

Maybe: Atomoxetine and most anti-depressants lower seizure threshold. Combined use may therefore induce seizures as other side-effects depending on the anti-depressant.
