No: An ear infection can affect balance and equilibrium, characteristics critical in martial arts.  You can hurt yourself or be hurt if not fully recovered. Give it some time.

Otitis media: Pop your ears on a regular basis 30 or 40 times a day. This is about all you can do. If your doctor gave you a decongestant then take it. You can try pseudo-fed as well. Good luck and feel better!

what should my next steps be? i have acute otitis media that was accompanied with hearing loss in my right ear that came from a cold i had last week, i went to th er and given meds and started the regemine and still have somee pain along with the prolonge

You : You need to see an ENT soon.  Prolonged infection can result in permanent hearing loss.  Go to www.Entnet.Org to find an ENT near you.

Comgestion: You should see your doctor for treatment with an appropriate antibiotic, if necessary. There are other  combinations  of rx like nasal decongestant sprays, oral decongestants, nasal steroids,  mucolytics like guaifenesin, ;  sometimes oral steroids are necessary to alleviate sinus and eustachian  tube congestion.  You may need to see an ENT md to help.

Take tylenol (acetaminophen): You need tylenol (acetaminophen) and some antibioics.See your doctor for evaluation.

Outer ear infection: It sounds like you may be suffering from a chronic outer ear infection. This can be caused by bacteria or fungus. If this has been going on for some time, you ought to be seen by an ENT physician for accurate diagnosis and treatment.

Yes: Did you have a sore throat along with the swollen lymph nodes? The swollen nodes could be the cause of the pain.

what's the treatment for middle ear infection (otitis media) in adults ?

Same as in children: If you truly have a middle ear infection, otitis media, and the cause can be proven to be bacterial, the same bacteria that infect the middle ears in childhood, cause otitis media in adults.  And therefore, the same treatment is administered.  So, first, an appropriate diagnosis needs to be made and if the cause is bacterial, the correct antibiotic needs to be given for 7-10 days.

Comfort measures: Some viral ear infections self heal in 2-4 day. Bacterial infections tend to persist and may lead to real complications. Infants need an early eval.If older if not better after 3-4 days, an evaluation and treatment is advised.Prior to antibiotics, hearing loss due to chronic middle ear disease was not uncommon and a significant complication called mastoiditis requires surgical drainage.

Two different cond..: Acute otitis media often requires antibiotic treatment especially in young children.
Otitis media with effusion can be transient, however, persistent (over 12 weeks) one with significant hearing loss requires "tube" for proper drainage.
