Possibly: I'd recommend you consult with an experienced physical therapist who has worked with acupuncturists.  Sometimes response to acupuncture depends as much on the patient as it does the therapy itself, and a lot depends also on the cause of the pain.  Be wary of any practitioner who tells you that they can treat anything and every-thing through their trade.  Talk to others who have tried it.

Shoulder pain: Acupuncture is definitely something to consider, but i would consider a trial of anti-inflammatories (or a corticosteroid injection) and physical therapy first.

Shoulder &amp; Neck pain: Please see your doctor so you know what you are dealing with.  Ask him/her if massage is ok.  Sometimes simple non-invasive treatments can be very effective.  Peace and good health.

Usually: You have to remember that acupuncture is not magic. Usually neck and shoulder tightness and pain should improve with acupuncture over a short period of time if it's not related to a disc problem. One session usually will not completely fix the pain and tightness.

Not exactly sure: why it caused pressure in your chest?  It is always important to insure that the person who performs acupuncture on you - is properly trained to do so.  (I am not suggesting that the physical therapist wasn't trained however).

Pain treatment: What is the cause of your pain?  What has your assessment shown to date?  Is this musculoskeletal, nerve pain etc?  Different types of pain can be addressed using various modality. As an acupuncturist, I advise my patients with chronic neck, shoulder, arm pain that it may take at least 12 sessions, before they are seeing strong results.

Sit up straight.: The most common, poor posture, head forward, rounded shoulders.  Sleeping with too many pillows will cause pain.  Common activities of daily living like driving a lot, long periods of sitting (computer work), telephone work, etc.  There are physical diseases that might lead to pain, if there were an actual growth, or gallbladder disease, but these are rarer.
