Seek consultation with a local dermatologist or facial plastic surgeon for recommendations based on your appearance and degree of sun damage.  Options for treatment include topical treatments, peels, lasers, etc.

Get real Rx: If it's on your back, you'll probably need both topical treatment (consider benzoyl peroxide plus topical clindamycin, perhaps with a retinoic acid derivative), plus a sytemic antibiotic or one of the big guns that only a dermatologist can write for. Some acne scars give a man character, but this should be a choice; this is the 21st century & all acne can be managed scientifically.

Acne: It is important to treat your acne so that you don't get permanent scarring.  Some patients wait too long before seeing their dermatologist to have their acne treated. Normally topical medicines and internal antibiotics are used to keep acne under control.  You can start with an over the counter benzoyl peroxide wash while you are waiting for your appointment with your dermatologist.

Acne meds: Accutane reduces new acne lesions, and seems to reduce the scars, and the color.  Antibiotics reduce new lesions, but not scarring.  Topical antibiotics the same.  Retina seems to speed the healing of acne lesions,  benzoyl peroxide also seems to speed the healing, reduces some new lesions, but not treat the scarring.  Some will scar more, others less with similar acne.

Acne Scarring: Micro needling can help with scars (adding PRP helps even more), fractionated lasers are better, but more expensive.  A less invasive (but slower results) process would be laser genesis to the scars.  If they are depressed you can use needle subcision or fillers to improve the appearance. Silicone gel has been shown to help scars.  It's ok to continue that indefinitely.

Scientific Rx: Nothing you can do or take will repair acne scars. I'm sorry you weren't treated as you should have been. A dermatologist can make the scars less visible by dermabrasion or other methods. Vitamins won't touch acne, but if your benzoyl peroxide hasn't cleared you, your physician can write for prescription-strength rx -- an antibiotic, retinoic-acid derivative, "the pill", others.

Depends on type: Acne scars come in various types.  Some are crater-like, which respond well to mech dermabrasion.  Some vertical sides (ice-pick type) are very difficult to eliminate.  Stopping the acne process, get great skin care program going, and use of mechanical abrasions (not micro-abrasion) should improve the surface problems and noticeable surface roughness.

Benzoyl peroxide : Bpo is a good place to start--there are many good over the counter preparations that you can leave on overnight and it will control mild acne.  If you have moderate to severe acne, you are probably better off seeing a dermatologist and getting on more potent, prescription medication.  The "scarring" you have noticed may be post inflammatory pigment, which will fade over time.

Try subcision fat tx: Have you tried subcision to release the collagen scars combined with thin fat transfer to improve surface complexion?  Also, carboxytherapy is relatively new to the usa, but has shown some promise in scar revision, keloid softening, and collagen reorganization in my experience.
