No: Prilosec or any other ppis (protonix, nexium, prevacid, dexilant, (dexlansoprazole) aciphex) can suppress acid production significantly but never 100%.

i have bronchiectasis caused by acid reflux. on spiriva & prilosec. both are working but i can't  sleep at night. what can i do to sleep without meds?

Check O2: Sometimes people with lung disease end up having a sleep disordered breathing or low oxygen at night.  This often wakes people up because otherwise, low oxygen can cause brain and other vital organ damage.   Avoid sedatives but something like melatonin may be helpful that does not typically affect breathing.  Talk to pulmonary/sleep specialist you are seeing.

Sure, but...: Unless you have a known allergy or sensitivity to prilosec, then this drug is a very appropriate choice for gerd management.  As proven effective and relatively safe as it may be (it has been commercially available in the usa since 1989), the drug is not meant for prn ("as needed") use--the drug reaches its optimal acid suppression after several days of daily use.

Maybe: You can take the medication twice a day if necessary.  You should also be evaluated by a GI specialist to see if you have a bacteria called h. Pylori  that is worsening your reflux.  This maybe treated with antibiotics if necessary.  If these medications do not work and you have persistent reflux, surgical options are available.

PPI Rx: It appears that the Omeprazole is ineffective for you unless youare not taking it appropriately. It must be taken before anything is eaten in the morning or it losese 1/2 its effectiveness. If the symptoms still do not improve, I would recommend  EGD be performed by a gastroenterologist

Gerd: These medications have differing mechanisms of action and usually it's not necessary to take them together although I don't think it is harmful to do so. Zantac (ranitidine) has a quicker onset of action and thus relieves heartburn quicker, but overall, taking prilosec daily is more effective for most patients but should there be breakthrough heartburn, taking a zantac (ranitidine) in addition for quick relief may help.

if i drink soda while taking prilosec will my acid reflux possibly come back? ive been taking this for over a week now. thanks?

: Generally we advise avoiding  carbonated beverages as the bubbles expand in the stomach and might put pressure on the sphincter to push the stomach contents back into the food pipe . Also it is better to not drink a large quantity at one sitting and before going to bed, as well as to  remain upright while drinking .Other drinks to avoid include alcohol and caffeinated drinks .

can losartan (cozaar) cause severe acid reflux.  i already take prilosec 2x/day it help a little.  ar started after beginning cozaar?

Unlikely: Of over 11,000 people reporting side-effects with losartan, only 0.12% reported esophageal reflux. I would have my doctor investigate other causes.
