Yes: But i recommend that you go over these issues in detail with a sports medicine practitioner, determining if the type of exercise you are doing is appropriate, if changes are needed, if further medical evaluation would help, and what medications are best.

44 year old male very active , non drinker ,  can i take  tylenol (acetaminophen) daily  for aches and pains ?

It depends: Even in liver failure,  2000 mg a day of Acetaminophen is considered safe.   Long term use of Acetaminophen has issues, however, with kidney function and even can add to gastritis etc.    You are 44,  why the aches and pains?

is it safe to take acetaminophen for occasional aches or pains - such as one or two 325mg pills once per week? i've read it shouldn't be taken for more than 10 days even in small doses. what would constitute longterm/unsafe use?

Accepted Answer

Yes: That will be the only safe use of acetaminophen. Long term use means high doses, close to 4 g/day for 3 weeks or more of daily use. Short courses of up to 1 week of daily use is also usually appropriate with relatively safe margins. Drug-drug interactions are also to be considered as well as preexisting liver disease.

i have chest pains & can't take in a full breath, severe head aches, feeling very cold & suddenly very hot, & overall body discomfort.what can this be?

Likely infection : You most likely have an infection. However, you need to be seen asap.  If chest pains worse with deep breath likely associated with pleurisy. Need eval with ECG to assess for pericarditis. See your primary md.

im 25 weeks pregnant and im getting period pain like pains. with aching feet and back. should i be worried? is there something i can take to relieve the pain? thanks

Normal: Unfortunately, small period like pains (Braxton Hicks contractions) and achy feet/back are all typical for late 2nd/3rd trimester of pregnancy.  Try resting with your feet up or lying on your side, warm compresses to back, acetominophen and maintain your level of exercise. See a Dr for increasing, steady contractions, any bleeding, swelling of feet accompanied by headache, or dizziness.

my back aches when i take 1500mg of glucosamine, but now the pain was gone. what could be happening in my back?

Impossible to say: It is very unlikely that taking the glucosamine caused your back pain. But while it has some support for help in knee arthritis, glucosamine generally doesn't help back pain at all.  At your age, a strain from activity likely caused your back pain and, as expected, it has healed itself. Walking and back stretching and strengthening exercises may be helpful to prevent recurrences. Dislocated shoulder: May need further eval for rotator cuff or glenoid labral tear.

Pharyngitis: The cause of your sore throat would predict the treatment. You could try otc cholaroseptic spray but i would not want to mask an infection, post nasal drip or reflux disease. It may be best to see your physician on this one if it persists.

Hot tea: And the juice of two limes or lemons. Eat or drink pineapple juice.
