About a day or so: Hypertensive medication have a quick onset of activity.  Take your BP meds as directed and then about a day or so take your resting BP.  You can buy an automatic BP machine from a drug store to check your own BP.  If you BP is still have after a couple of days go back to your doctor and tell him/her.  They will likely change your prescription until they have found a solution for your high BP.

Needs intervention: True unstable angina means having chest pain at rest with shortness of breath etc and needs urgent evaluation for possible angioplasty with stent placement if needed.

Hypertension: Current 1st line medication for hypertension or high blood pressure is a thiazide diuretic (water pill) like hctz (hydrochlorothiazide) unless you have a compelling reason eg diabetes, heart disease, kidney disease, etc for something else. Clonidine is far down list. It works but all BP meds work. Down side of Clonidine is rebound hypertension if you forget to take dose. Some find it sedating. Potency depends upon dose.

Not always ...: Beta Blockers are interesting drugs.  Their use in treating coronary artery disease, high blood pressure and myocardial disease fills volumes.  I would love to get into that because it's interesting .... however .... to answer your question quite simply.  Most patients require more than one medication because they also have high blood pressure.  But some can get away with Beta Blockers alone.

Improved LV Function: The long term benefit of these medications in the treatment of CHF or Cardiomyopathy are well established highly beneficial and according to guidelines. It is all good. Prolong and improve life expectancy.

do statins , beta blockers and ace inhibitors have a role in mitral valve prolapse ? if patient is experiencing nsvt and frequent pvcs at which point is surgery typcsllly indicated and these medications ?

: Beta blockers may help suppress ventricular irritability for you, but amiodarone or sotalol are often more effective but reserved for serious arrythmias.  I wouldn't think statins or ACE inhibitors would contribute anything in your case. I'm uncertain that operating on mitral valve prolapse would  prevent PVCs or NSVT episodes. An electrophysiologist cardiologist would be best to advise you

They also have effects independent of the blood pressure effect on the heart, particularly for people with heart failure, and on the kidneys, particulaly for people who have diabetic-induced kidney disease with protein in the urine.

: No, I do not think so. In contrast, ACE inhibitors result in accumulated bradykinins which could be the cause of some side effects.

No: There is a common misconception that calm people don't have hypertension and treating antihypertensives will calm people. Overall that is not the case. There may be one exception.Beta blockers block adrenaline which can make one feel calmer. Acei other antihypertensives  usually do not result in people feeling calmer.
