Yes: Any oral abscess can burst in out out of your mouth if it is large enough. There have been reports of death due to an abscess spreading to the brain cavity from an infected tooth. Don't fool around with infection, get it evaluated and treated asap!

It won't help: Attempting to drain the abscess will not solve your problem.. the cause of the abscess will need to be addressed. Periodontal disease? Non-vital nerve?  Fractured tooth? You'll need a dentist for this, so make a call for an appointment.

Several days: How quickly it  decreases is dependant on the severity of the swelling to begin with and how it is treated. If antibiotics alone are used it may take days. In addition, 
if an incision and drainage is also performed, the swelling may be reduced  more quickly.

Pilonidal cyst: It's probably a pilonidal cyst, and needs to be definitively removed.  Usually a surgeon does a small procedure to remove it but they can recur.  Bc they can be deep, it's best to have this done in the operating room... Since it burst, this could be after the initial inflammation has subsided a bit.  Give your doctor a call or look for a general surgeon/colo-rectal surgeon.  Warm soaks for now.

Abscess: I suggest medical assessment.  Sometimes there are lobulations in abscessed that need to be broken up. Your wound could still be a portal for infection.

See your doctor.: An abscess rupturing is actually a good thing in most cases, in that the infection is now draining.  The problem is that allowing an abscess to rupture is usually not complete and adequate drainage.  A physician should examine you to make sure further surgical drainage is not needed, and it is likely that you would benefit from an antibiotic.

See your doctor for: antibiotic treatment &amp; referral to a surgeon who will drain the abscess &amp; likely pack it with gauze to keep it open &amp; draining. Although it may be from a different bacterium if it's close to your anus, Staphylococcus is the germ that usually causes skin abscesses. If not fully treated, a few "staph" bacteria remain &amp; cause recurrence.
