High: There are several reasons for an abnormal mammogram and most of those are benign.  If the changes are not concerning and are not changing from year to year then it is not concerning, however if there is  change or if an area looks concerning then a biopsy may be necessary.

what does an abnormal mammogram look like?

It is variable: In a normal breast, a mammogram shows normal skin dark grey fat and lighter grey breast tissue.  Suspicious findings include clusters of tiny microcalcifications or a density/mass with irregular or spiculated margins.  To the untrained eye, these can look just like breast tissue. Comparing to older mammograms increases the likelihood of being able to spot a new or enlarging abnormality.

Not necessarily: It depends if anything is done with the abnormality.  In addition, it may just show fibrous tissue and thickening.  It also depends on your age.  Hope this helps.

Unlikely: An abnormality in a mammogram would not cause backache. The call back for mammogram may be due to something suspicious in the earlier one. It would be prudent to talk to your doctor who knows more about your health.

If there is: a specific abnormality identified on both ultrasound and mammography, it will probably be visualized on MRI as well.

Absolutely: Breast cancers arise from normal breast, and they can grow fast. And i can't tell you the stage of the cancer. Hopefully it is still contained. If you have an abnormal mammogram, you need to get a tissue diagnosis. It may be benign. If it's cancer, definitively treatment is much more likely than not to save your life. Do what you know you must.

Talk with doctor: They usually do cone down views to look at the area closer, and if ok they will usually follow up in 6 months. Your doctor will have the exact reports and can tell you what they recommend.

Calcium deposits: There are calcium depoists in breast tissue that could be benign or malignant and they look quite different.  If the report said benign finding then it's not a worrisome finding.

It : It is important when you read a mammogram to know the age of the patient and the reason it was done. If patient or doctor feels a mass in the breast then it should be pursued with biopsy if the clinical suspicion is high. Also digital mammography has better sensitivity detecting lesions when suspecting. Apparently, there is an abnormality that measures 1 cm in this image and you may need more work up.
