Visceral fat: Visceral fat is associated with Insulin resistance.  Insulin resistance is associated with a number of "hormone imbalances" including polycystic ovarian syndrome.

How do you LOOK?: I'd be less concerned with numbers purporting to give measurements than how you actually look. As a weight lifter, you're well-aware of how much surface fat you have and whether this robs you of definition. If you are trim / look lean and do not have an obvious pot belly, i would ignore both calculations and the "high tech scales" that gave you this result.

Yes but it varies: Varies based on race, in general women have 10% more body fat than men. Women tend to have more subcutaneous fat and lower visceral fat, however these differences in visceral fat diminish with age. Asian women tend to have more visceral fat than Caucasians, but still less than Asian men. Black women have comparable visceral fat and more subcutaneous fat than black men.

Visceral fat: Reduce animal fat in your diet. Otherwise, start aerobic work out. If you do it on treadmill, make sure you bring your heart rate to the fat burning mode level. Do it no less than 30 minutes a day, no less than 5 x/week. Avoid unhealthy calories - sweets, fast food, soft drinks. Push 0 calorie foods - veggies. Add fruit and plenty of water.

Weight/fat loss: Eat healthfully. Try to eat at least 5 servings of vegetables &amp; 4 of fruit per day. Increase nutritional fiber. Avoid refined sugar &amp; junk carbohydrates.  Avoid alcohol, sweetened juices, soda &amp; caffeinated beverages.  Aim for 7.5 to 8 hrs of sleep / night. Hydrate w at least 64 oz of water / day. Calories burned must &gt; calories consumed.  Do both cardio &amp; weight training.
